Children enjoy minigolf events of the summer season

As many as 130 children and teachers were on the eternite course of 18 holes — at the same time, more than 7 players per lane — as Minigolf Federation of Wien (Austria) arranged the annual summer tournaments for local schools.

Several competitions were arranged on different days, for different schools. The greatest number of participants was seen on 23 June, as some 200 children and teachers from Maria Regina School played minigolf, hoping to win one of the cup trophies. Even greater number of competitors, some 400 players, have participated in similar competitions arranged in Salzburg.

Johanna Knotzer, the youth work coordinator of Minigolf Federation of Wien, is happy to see such large crowds of children playing minigolf, but she reminds that not many of these children become interested in more serious minigolf competitions. Knotzer says that the best way to get new players to the sport is when competition players spend time on the minigolf course, showing their playing skills and chatting with interested people.

In Berks County, Pennsylvania (USA), a minigolf course has the annual tradition to invite all pre-school children from the region, to enjoy a free round of minigolf on the course. Skill or rules are not so essential — the most important thing is that the kids learn how great fun it is to play this game.
